How to choose between different Door-to-door Box Storage types? A guide to sorting clothing, books, and miscellaneous items

Compare the dimensions of existing document boxes, standard boxes, extra-large boxes, and wardrobe boxes, and pack according to item shape, weight, and retrieval needs.

Short answer

When choosing Door-to-door Box Storage, first classify items into documents/books, foldable clothing, hanging clothing, and irregular items, then compare against published dimensions and actual usable space. Just because an item fits doesn't mean the box can be safely filled; quantity examples are not equal to weight limits. The 'Other Items' category limit of a total of 180cm (sum of three sides) and 25kg weight limit is not a universal weight rule for all box types.

Key summary

  • Sort by purpose and material first, then compare dimensions; do not use the largest box for everything.
  • Separate heavy books into different boxes; the box lid must be able to close properly.
  • Capacity examples are not guarantees of quantity, nor are they weight limits.
  • For irregular items and unknown weights, provide information for enquiry first.

1. Measure actual items and dimensions after packing; do not rely on guesswork

List what needs storing first, then measure the longest, widest, and highest points; for items with protective packaging, reserve space for the packaging itself. Do not use the same estimation method for soft clothing as for fixed-shape boxed items, and never force a box shut.

The table below uses published dimensions and capacity examples from existing service rates and does not guarantee that all space inside the box is usable. If in doubt regarding internal dimensions, lid position, or compatibility for special items, please provide photos and dimensions for confirmation; do not treat external dimensions as damage-free usable capacity.

2. Books and documents: Sorting is more important than overstuffing

The published dimensions for document boxes are 42 x 34 x 27cm, with a capacity example of approximately 3,000 A4 sheets. This is a reference from our service data and does not mean all paper thicknesses, folders, or books can fit in that same quantity, nor should it be used to estimate weight-bearing capacity.

Books are dense; they should be packed evenly based on size and weight to ensure items can be safely moved and to confirm applicable weight limits. Important original identification documents and irreplaceable files should be kept personally; for documents needed in the future, sort by department or year code to avoid retrieving a whole mixed box for just one book.

3. Compare foldable clothing and hanging requirements separately

Standard storage boxes and extra-large storage boxes both have a length and width of 60 x 40cm, with heights of 31cm and 45cm respectively. Extra height does not mean you can compress all clothing tighter; knits, coats, or embellished clothing should be packed according to their material.

Wardrobe boxes have published dimensions of 50 x 50 x 98cm; please enquire about hanging needs first. Hangers, garment length, and coat thickness will affect the capacity; a quantity of shirts is just an example. Do not assume the same capacity for thick coats or long dresses as for thin shirts.

4. Sort miscellaneous items by weight, fragility, and shape; avoid mixing

Lightweight items, heavy books, glassware, and items with sharp corners should not be mixed just because there is extra space. Sort by item characteristics first, then assess protection and labeling to avoid heavy items crushing fragile ones. The box lid should close normally; do not increase capacity by leaving items exposed, tying them to the outside, or modifying the box structure.

The existing 'Other Items' category is limited to a sum of 180cm for the three sides and a 25kg weight limit; these are conditions for this category and do not imply that items exceeding these limits can be forced into standard boxes, nor that all items are accepted. Special equipment, items containing batteries, and high-value items still require prior declaration.

5. Use a breakdown example to choose a box, rather than guessing the number of boxes

For example, if a batch of items includes books, folded clothing, and a few items you do not want to fold, you can divide them into a documents/heavy items group, a foldable group, and a hanging group, then estimate the number of boxes based on actual size and weight. This is a sorting method, not a promise that a specific list will always require three boxes or a fixed total price.

If an item exceeds the box shape, enquire about 'Other Items' or other storage solutions separately. Do not force a change in packing just because you have chosen a cheap box type, and there is no need to upgrade to a large warehouse for a small amount of items; what matters is comparing suitable combinations and the total cost of the service.

6. Before collection, verify box numbers, weight-bearing, and retrieval needs

Try to put items of similar use in the same box, note the box number and main contents, and organize frequently used or items needed early in separate boxes. If the weight is unknown, measure it and enquire with customer service; existing price lists do not have a uniform kilogram limit for every box type, and this article will not provide a set of numbers.

Clothing and supplies should be cleaned and completely dried first; refer to our knowledge hub for special care. Before handing over, check box lids, appearance, and quantity. Monthly fees for box types must be viewed alongside applicable lease terms, number of boxes, and collection/delivery details; do not mistake a starting monthly price for a flat rate covering all items for the entire period.

FAQs

Can all box types hold 25kg?
This cannot be presumed. 25kg is the weight limit for the 'Other Items' category and is not a uniform weight limit for every storage box; if you have questions about applicable weights for different boxes, please confirm first.
The document box says it holds about 3,000 A4 sheets, can I fill it with books?
Do not convert directly. Books and loose paper differ in shape, thickness, and weight, and capacity examples are not weight guarantees. Measure, sort, and confirm applicable weight limits, and ensure the box lid closes normally.
Is an extra-large box definitely more cost-effective than two small boxes?
Not necessarily. Besides the monthly fee, consider item weight, protection, sorting, and whether you will need to retrieve items in batches. Compare the total cost of the entire service based on actual box counts, lease terms, and collection/delivery details, rather than just looking at box size.
