From item size and moving methods to access arrangements, learn about different storage services to pick the plan that suits you.
Short answer
Door-to-door Box Storage organises small items like clothes and books into standard boxes; Door-to-door Storage is assessed based on larger items, warehouse style, and moving needs; Central Warehouse focuses on centralised storage and access management. The name cannot replace specific terms; you should also confirm dimensions, weight capacity, collection/delivery, storable items, and retrieval methods.
Key summary
- Estimate box count for small items and measure outer dimensions for large ones.
- Different service names may also have different lease and collection/delivery arrangements.
- Central Warehouse does not equal self-access at any time.
1. Door-to-door Box Storage: Organise small items by box
Door-to-door Box Storage is suitable for seasonal clothing, books, documents, and small sundries. The team delivers boxes to your home, and after you sort and pack them, you book a pickup for warehouse storage, then arrange for return delivery when needed.
Check available box dimensions, weight limits, and permissible items before packing. The lid should close properly; do not overstuff or make a single box too heavy just to reduce the number of boxes.
- Categorise by purpose first, then decide on the number of boxes
- Label every box and keep a simple inventory list
- Confirm delivery, pickup, and retrieval arrangements in advance
2. Door-to-door Storage: Handle furniture and larger items
Sofas, mattresses, luggage, and large household items may not be suitable for standard storage boxes; contact us for Door-to-door Storage, where our team will assess the dimensions, packaging, and moving requirements of your items.
When providing photos, it is best to capture the full view of the items and the access path. Elevators, stairs, parking distance, and whether disassembly is needed will all affect the actual arrangements.
3. Central Warehouse: Centralised storage and management
Central Warehouse is a storage method for centralised management of items, suitable for residential temporary storage, company documents, or business inventory. The actual permissible items and access procedures must be confirmed according to your plan.
Central Warehouse does not mean clients can enter the facility on their own at any time. If you require frequent retrieval, batch collection, or regular stock movement, you should clarify this before renting.
4. Choose based on items, time, and frequency
Small sundries can be estimated by box count; large furniture should have its dimensions measured; for business inventory, consider items, quantity, and inbound/outbound frequency simultaneously.
When comparing plans, don't look at the monthly fee alone. Calculate moving, packaging, retrieval arrangements, and rental duration together to get closer to the total cost you really need.
5. Align services and lease terms when comparing costs
Compare Box Storage by box type, Door-to-door Storage by selected warehouse style and storage arrangement, and check plans for Central Warehouse by items and needs. Do not apply the starting price of one service to another capacity, lease term, or transport scenario.
The minimum lease term for our Central Warehouse is one month, and mid-storage retrieval is HK$300 per time; this is a Central Warehouse arrangement, not a general fee for Box Storage, Door-to-door Storage, or Business Storage, nor does it include door-to-door delivery.
6. Try classifying first, then decide on one or a mixed plan.
Divide items into three groups: small items in boxes, large items needing protection, and must-haves. Label small items clearly, measure/photograph large ones, and evaluate if must-haves are worth storing off-site; this is easier to arrange than simply saying 'half a room'.
For example, a moving household with both clothes and a sofa may not use the same container type; online stores may also manage low-turnover items and work documents separately. Whether a mixed plan is viable and how to charge must be confirmed by customer service.
7. Check address restrictions before door-to-door collection/delivery.
Stairs, lift interiors, corridor corners, moving distances, and parking points may all affect arrangements. The same address doesn't guarantee the same moving conditions for every floor; village houses or duplexes should be declared proactively.
Photos should include item appearance, entrances, and particularly narrow spots. If it involves large appliance disconnection, wall-mounted furniture, or glass/stone surfaces, declare them beforehand rather than when the team arrives to avoid delays and fee disputes.
8. Retrieval method determines future convenience.
Ask clearly about procedures for whole-batch or partial retrieval, notice periods, and required box numbers before storage. When you want to retrieve a specific item, the inventory must correspond to its physical location, otherwise 'a box of sundries' is hard to manage.
If your core need is daily access and organising, state it clearly; don't assume a service provides independent units and free access just because the name includes 'storage'. Choosing based on the actual access method is usually more reliable than looking at product names.
